Wish List for Upcoming Trip to Ikea Atlanta! Sunday, May 18 2008

Payday is only 10 days away, and I am working on my wish list for a trip to Ikea.  None of these are expensive (thank goodness!), but these items will help pump up the “cozy”, “urban / industrial cottage”, and “wow” factors in the cottage house.

Ikea Inez Trad Pillow Cover Tuesday, May 13 2008

Here is the pillow cover that you can see in the living room photo of Jennifer Eggleston’s home. I have finally found 2 on Ebay! Hooray!

Got both pillows with shipping for under $20. Yeah!

Wishing and Hoping! Sunday, May 11 2008

Here is a slideshow with photos of a cupboard cabinet  I hope to win from Red Barn Estates on Ebay!  I have submitted my best offer, and if I win it, will pay off on June 1!!!  This would be the perfect storage solution for my kitchen.  Right now I have been using a Martha Stewart wire rack, but I truly hate having everything out in the open—my kitchen has no architectural interest, and the wire rack does not work, but this would do the trick!  Keep your fingers crossed!

New Lighting Inspiration for the Living Room Saturday, May 10 2008

This seems similar to some lighting I saw in one of my shabby inspiration (Jennifer Eggleston) cottage homes.   At $29.99, this is more affordable than Pottery Barn!  :-)   They are also hardwired, so they would work fine in my living room…I cannot wait to get rid of the ugly ceiling fans.  I think we’ll be zipping down to Ikea Atlanta later this month!

I am thinking now of putting these in my living room instead of looking for matching chandeliers, especially after seeing a new photo of Jennifer’s living room, which is just dreamy.

Shabby Bedding Redo Tuesday, May 6 2008

Take a look at my “new” gently used Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic ”Shade” linen duvet and new shams from a wonderful seller on Ebay!   Lovely shade of beige linen…very soothing and soft.  I truly love this color—it evokes a sense of French charm and cottage charm.  The white shams are Rachel Ashwell “Dream Linen” that I’ve owned for a time; white duvet is cotton poplin Shabby White.   This new combination of beige linen and white bedding are simply soothing!

I was inspired by a recent blog from Deb on the Curious Sofa Diaries  as well as an article from the May 2007 Country Home magazine.

Poem: “Granny’s Chiffarobe” Tuesday, May 6 2008

“Granny’s Chiffarobe”

Polished gleaming mahogany

Gold patina handles inviting you to open doors to the past
Lingering odor of fluffy golden buttery biscuits mingled with Rose Milk perfume and musty mothballs
Former home to faded calico cotton dresses and floral aprons
and your two weapons:  a well-worn Bible and a pearl-handled pistol
Ghostly tufts of quilting cotton left as breadcrumbs leading back to a time now existing only in my memories
The secret door to Narnia I never could find.

Favorite Things: Pottery Barn Letters Tuesday, May 6 2008

These just arrived….I am planning on putting them in a Pottery Barn frame that I won from Ebay for a song.  Many thanks to Sadie Olive for her creative inspiration!
